Privacy is something we all worry about in our lives. We worry about our bank accounts, credit cards, health information and many more areas where our personal information is being shared. Most of us believe that our health information is private and should be protected. Patients and providers alike worry about personal health data. SONIFI Health also takes privacy seriously.
Obligated to Health Data Privacy
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) is the Federal legislation that provides data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical information.1 Healthcare consumers are entitled to see their medical information, check their medical information for accuracy and know who has seen their protected health information.
SONIFI Health abides by the law but beyond that we also understand how important safeguarding this data is to our clients and the patients they serve.
My mother’s medical information was compromised in a hospital system once and I saw how insecure it made her feel to know that her information was out there for others to see and exploit.
Patients don’t need to feel insecure using an interactive system. Their private information is never given out through our system. The patient’s full name and other identifying factors are not displayed onscreen. Patients can even set pin numbers to protect their health specific services, such as assigned education, care team, or schedules.
Facilities choose SONIFI Health interactive technology to enhance the patient experience. For example, the solution can highlight important information like allergies or medications, so patients can verify the accuracy and feel safe. Logins or password features ensure patient privacy even in cohort rooms or situations where patients choose not to share health information with family members.
As a nurse, I want all patients to feel as comfortable as possible. Patients and providers can rest assured the information in the electronic health record is safe and never tampered with by a SONIFI Health interactive product.
