Interactive Engagement Offers Benefits Beyond the Hospital Stay

An interactive engagement solution can benefit more than the patient who is in the hospital bed. This technology can be useful for generating awareness of Patient and Family Advisory Councils and setting care and recovery expectations for family members.

Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) Awareness

Hospitals use Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) to improve their patient experience. Members of these councils are uniquely qualified to speak to what would be beneficial while they are in the hospital.  Recruiting members for the council can sometimes be challenging.  It might seem unexpected to ask people to join while they are still recovering, but this can be a good opportunity to communicate the message.

The SONIFI Health system can deliver recruitment and meeting information through digital signage and movie pre-roll content. The request feature can also prompt patients onscreen if they would like further information or a visit from a member of the PFAC. The solution’s feedback feature also provides a unique opportunity to survey the patient on their awareness of PFAC activity at the facility.  Only by listening to patients and families can hospitals really understand what is most important to them.

Teaching Family and Caregivers

The SONIFI Health system deploys videos designed to improve patient and caregiver understanding of a disease state, procedure or medication. Many times, in the intensive care setting, the patient is not able to participate in these learning strategies so providing video education to the caregivers is paramount.  The education library feature also allows family members to locate additional videos for their own understanding.

A great example of this would be for patients with sepsis. Recovery from sepsis can be a long arduous process.  The Sepsis Alliance foundation has created educational videos explaining the Sepsis disease process, and the impact it can have on patients. Putting these videos on an interactive engagement solution and making families aware of how sepsis impacts patients is huge in managing expectations for recovery.

These are just a couple of examples of how a patient engagement solution from SONIFI Health has an influence on patients beyond their hospital stay.
